About the poster
The Braun T3 transistor radio was designed by Dieter Rams in collaboration with the Ulm School of Design (Hochschule fĂĽr Gestaltung). The first pocket portable transistor radio to come from Braun.
It is an iconic example of the design principles defined by Dieter Rams – “Less, but betterssible”. A fully functional radio from which all unnecessary functions, decorations have been removed and the housing is made a work of art.
Half a century after the introduction of the T3 Radio to the market, a kind of tribute was paid by Apple – with the release of the iPod Classic. Johnatan Ive did not admit his inspiration directly, but admitted that the design studio follows the principles of design defined by Diter Rams.
Dieter Rams is a German industrial designer and retired academic closely associated with the consumer products company Braun, the furniture company VitsĹ“, and the functionalist school of industrial design. His unobtrusive approach and belief in “Less, but better” design generated a timeless quality in his products and have influenced the design of many products, which also secured Rams worldwide recognition and appreciation.
